Henny Penny Farm is both a working farm and a teaching farm, educating hundreds of children and families about our food system and our ecosystems. We raise a flock of Romney Sheep that regularly lead their classes at shows for both their fleeces and their structural correctness. We match each individual fleece to its best end use, whether it be knitting yarn, woven items like scarves and blankets, or knitted hats and socks. We also have a flock of dorset and crossbred sheep and we use their wool for a multitude of projects from bouncy sock yarn to stuffing our wool pillows to rugs. All of our wools are either undyed or dyed by hand here on the farm with plants and natural dyes.
